Bhubaneswar: There is no plan for imposing day curfew in Odisha, said the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Sunday. Through a tweet, the SRC clarified that Covid-19 situation in the State is very much under control.

“The State government is closely monitoring the situation. At this point, there is no plan for imposing day curfew in the State,” SRC tweeted.

The clarification came in the wake of media queries regarding the imposition of day-time curfew.

Earlier, the Odisha Assembly Speaker SN Patro while talking to reporters today said, “Day time curfew is also likely to be imposed in the State in the next 4-5 days. The matter is urgently being reviewed by Odisha Chief Minister and Health Department and a decision is likely soon.”

Patro said that the State government had yesterday only announced night curfew in 10 districts in western Odisha that witnessed a sharp rise in coronavirus cases.

The Speaker had further added that a day-time curfew could be imposed in the State, in addition to the night curfew which will come into effect in 10 districts of the State from April 5.
