Bhubaneswar: There are no reports of any Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) on day 1 of Covid-19 vaccination in Bhubaneswar, said Capital Hospital Director Laxmidhar Sahu on Monday.

Sahu said that nearly 156 healthcare workers received the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine at Capital Hospital under the nation-wide rollout of the vaccine on January 16.

“There are no reports of any adverse effect on the beneficiaries who received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. I also took the shot after a class IV staff Biranch Naik was administered the dose,” said Sahu.

Sahu further appealed people not to give importance to rumours surrounding the ongoing mega vaccination drive in the State and country. They should come forward and take the vaccine as it will protect them from the coronavirus infections, he said.

According to Sahu, provision has been made to vaccinate 200 to 300 persons at Capital hospital on the second day of the vaccination drive today.

“We have deployed additional manpower including lab technicians, observers and supervisors for the vaccination drive here,” Sahu said.

The Capital Hospital director further informed that around 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have reached Bhubaneswar. As many as 1500 healthcare workers will be vaccinated at Capital Hospital and the process is expected to be completed by January 25, Sahu added.
