NLUO student dies during football match in Kolkata

Cuttack/ Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a student of the National Law University Odisha (NLUO), Cuttack died while playing a football match in Kolkata on Saturday. The deceased student has been identified as Ritwik Das.

Das, a fifth year integrated law student, reportedly collapsed and died while playing the match for NLUO in an inter-university tournament at SAI Complex in Salt Lake in Kolkata.

According to reports, the match was organised by the National University of Judical Sciences (NUJS), West Bengal. Though Das was immediately shifted to a hospital soon after he collapsed on field, doctors at the hospital in Kolkata declared him dead, sources said.

“Ritwik was the captain of our university team. He reportedly developed ‘Asthma’ and subsequently died,” said NLUO registrar, Yogesh Pratap Singh.
