Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of the Hindu Jagaran Manch (HJM) held protests against the cold-blooded murder of Nikita Tomar-- a Faridabad-based college girl who had been shot dead following a failed kidnapping bid-- at Pokhariput on Thursday morning.

The HJM condemned the brutal incident and termed the crime as ‘love jihad’. During the protest, HJM volunteers waved placards and raised slogans demanding justice for Nikita by handing out exemplary punishment to the perpetrators of the crime.

Akshay Behera, a HJM member said “This is a very serious issue and it has a lot of repercussions on the society. We urge the government to take strong action against the culprits.”

On October 26, two car-borne assailants gunned down 21-year-old college student Nikita in Haryana’s Faridabad district in broad daylight. The brutality of the crime had sent shockwaves across the country.

The prime accused and his accomplice were subsequently arrested.
