Bhubaneswar: The new in-charge (Prabhari) of Odisha BJP, Daggubati Purandeswari on Wednesday arrived in the State Capital on a three-day Odisha visit to discuss party's organisational affairs.

This is her maiden visit to the State after being appointed as the in-charge of Odisha.

She is scheduled to meet the office bearers, party MPs, MLAs and leaders from all 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly constituencies. The party meetings will begin from tomorrow and will continue till December 12.

She is also slated to discuss party’s base at the grassroots level and chalk out strategies accordingly for elections to civic bodies scheduled for 2022 apart from 2024 general elections.

Soon after arriving at Bhubaneswar airport, Purandeswari was accorded a hearty welcome by party's senior leaders and workers including Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Bhrugu Buxipatra. She, however, refused to comment on any matter immediately before media.

"I need to discuss with the office bearers and State President Sameer Bhai (Mohanty). Then after I will come before the media and answer every question", she said.

Purandeswari's visit to the State assumes significance as her party in the State continues to grill the BJD-led State government over several sensitive issues including most sensational 'Pari' murder case of Nayagarh.

Sources said that the party has serious plans to achieve its aim of growing as a political alternative in Odisha by 2024.

A former Union Minister, Purandeswari has replaced Arun Singh as the new State in-charge of BJP. She was inducted earlier into the party’s national committee as one of its eight national general secretaries — the only woman among them.
