Bhubaneswar: In order to ease the rush in the main offices of Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) in the capital city for obtaining learner’s licenses (LL) following enforcement of the new Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, three more camp offices have been opened in Bhubaneswar to issue licenses to the denizens from today.

The camps have been opened at Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Office near Kalpana Square, BMC Ward Office at Saheed Nagar and BMC Zonal Office near Nalco Square. A notification in this regard was earlier issued by the State Transport Department.

The camps will be opened till September 21 and function from 10AM to 5PM daily. Registration will be done as per first-come-first-serve basis and there will be no slot booking system at the camps, said reports.

Applicants will have to submit Aadhaar Card, educational qualification and blood group certificates along will the requisite fees. After application, photograph of the applicant and biometric identification will be taken followed by test for obtaining the LL.

It may be noted that post the implementation of the new Motor Vehicles Act 2019, people in large numbers have been visiting the RTOs to get necessary documents including driving licenses ready so as avoid hefty penalties under the new traffic norms.

Taking cognizance of the chaos and overcrowding at RTO offices, Odisha State Transport Department decided to set up additional centres to facilitate issuance of LL to people. The State government has also relaxed the new traffic rules for three months to get all the mandatory documents ready before the act is again enforced in letter and spirit.
