Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Monday approved the proposal for setting up of a 100 seated new government Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Jajpur.

Apart from this, the Cabinet also approved the construction of 650-bedded Medical College Hospital in Puri. The total cost of the project is about Rs 651 Crores which would be completed in three years

State government officials said that such proposals will give a boost to the healthcare of the local residents of both the districts.

At present, the residents of Jajpur and Puri depend on the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack to get advance medical assistance. Once the multi-speciality facilities in Puri and Jajpur are completed, it will immensely benefit the local residents as well as the people of nearby districts apart from reducing the burden on SCB Medical.

“The Medical College Hospital at Puri will further lead to the transformation of the pilgrim town into a World Heritage Centre. This will transform Puri into an international hub of culture, heritage, faith and development,” an official release said.
