Bhubaneswar: In view of rising Covid-19 cases, the Commissionerate Police on Friday issued fresh guidelines for marriage and funeral related functions.

The CP has made it mandatory for people to take prior permission of the local police in writing or through electronic communication for organising marriage and its related functions.

The police have further reduced the gathering at weddings to 50 and imposed a ban on the procession. For funeral, the number of participants has been reduced to 20.

“Total participants in the marriage functions at venues including groom, bride, family members of bridge and groom, friends, relatives guests, priests, personnel of support services like food preparation and distribution put together will not exceed 50 cumulatively,” the guidelines said.

“There will be no marriage procession until further orders,” it added.

Persons with symptoms of influenza like infection (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) will not be allowed to the marriage function. Similarly, vulnerable groups of people such as person above 65 years of age, children below 10 years, persons with co-morbidities and pregnant women have been advised not to attend the function.

“The seating and dining arrangement shall be done in such a way that at least 2 metre physical distance is maintained between individuals,” the guidelines read.
