Bhubaneswar: In another twist in the Nayagarh minor girl murder case, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) Friday rejected the plea of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct narco analysis test on the accused.

This afternoon, when the SIT produced the 'minor' accused before the Juvenile Justice Board with a request to subject him to narco test, the accused reportedly refused to undergo the test before the JJB, following which the board rejected SIT's narco petition.

As per latest reports, the Special Investigation Team probing the case has filed another petition seeking brain mapping test on the accused boy. The next hearing on the plea is scheduled for January 13.

Brain-mapping test or the brain-wave fingerprinting test maps the brain to reveal 'guilty knowledge', and is conducted on suspects to interpret their behaviour. It corroborates the observation of the investigation team and the suspect's statements. Experts use unique technologies to ascertain whether a suspect's brain recognises things from the crime scene that an innocent would have no knowledge of.

For the SIT, the narco test would have helped the team ferret out several crucial evidence in the sensational case which has allegedly been concealed by the accused.

The mobile phone of the accused recovered by SIT has been sent to Kolkata for examination after the Juvenile Justice Board gave its nod.

Meanwhile, the Nayagarh district unit of Congress has demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged rape and murder of the five-year-old girl. The party has written to Home Minister Amit Shah in this regard.
