Nayagarh: Hours after SIT chief Arun Bothra on Tuesday unfolded the mystery behind the rape and brutal murder of the five-year-old girl from Jadupur village in Nayagarh, the prime accused Saroj Sethi’s mother termed police findings 'false and baseless'.

Mother of Saroj who has been arrested in connection with the murder, alleged that her son was tortured and coerced by the investigating agency to confess to the crime.

“My son, who was brought to the house by the cops on Monday, told us that he was being harassed and made to plead guilty. We are concerned as my husband is no more and there is nobody to fight for us,” said Sethi’s mother.

She further raised suspicion on the ongoing investigation and claims of the SIT. “My son is being framed in the case. When the police failed to find any clues for several months, how come the probe team was able to make breakthrough in just few days,” she added.

"The SIT officials took away the mobile phone of my daughter on December 2. Later, on December 10, they again visited our house and told us the mobile had some password. They could have told this when they took away the mobile phone. We suspect the cops had given some password which we don’t know,” Sethi’s mother alleged.

At a press conference, SIT chief Arun Bothra today claimed that Saroj was addicted to watching child pornography. On July 14, the victim had visited his house to eat Jamun. Sethi tried to rape the girl and when she resisted, he strangulated her to death. Later, he attempted to have an intercourse with her dead body, Bothra revealed at the presser.
