Malkangiri: In a bid to derail elections in the cut-off areas of Naxal-infested Malkangiri, as many as four motorboats were allegedly detained by Maoists to snap off connectivity in the region. The boats were released today along with the employees after being detained for a period of 2 days.

According to sources, the four motorboats, along with its 12 employees that were detained in Jantri and Sindhiput areas, which come under in Swabhiman areas in Chitrakonda Assembly constituency of Malkangiri district.

While one motorboat was released early in the morning today, the three others were released later in the day. The released motorboats were carrying posters urging the public to boycott polls, informed sources.

It may be noted that Chitrakonda constituency went to polls in the first phase yesterday.
