Odisha Council of Ministers list out: 10 new faces get ministerial berths

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal today appointed 11 cabinet ministers and nine ministers of state on the recommendations of the chief minister Naveen Patnaik. With the appointment, the strength of the council of ministers is 21 including the chief minister which is within 15 % of the strength of the assembly as prescribed by Sarkaria Commission.

Telkoi MLA Prenanda Nayak, Titlagarh MLA Tukuni Sahu, Nimapara MLA Sameer Das, Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das, Kotpad MLA Padmini Dian, Balikuda-Erasama MLA Raghunandan Das, Junagarh MLA Dibyashankar Mishra, Bissam Cuttack MLA Jagannath Saraka, Simulia MLA Jyotiprakash Panigarhi, and Kakatpur MLA Tusharkanti Behera have been inducted in Naveen's new team.

Bhanjanagar MLA Bikram Arukh, Mahanga MLA Pratap Jena, Sonepur MLA Niranjan Pujari, Kamakhyanagar MLA Prafulla Mallick, Ekamra-Bhubaneswar MLA Ashok Panda & Bhatli MLA Sushant Singh are among the leaders who retained ministerial berths.

Sushant Singh said, "I had held portfolios of Energy and Labour departments in the past. I hope that a department through which I can work for the welfare of people is allocated to me."

While Surjya Narayan Patro is likely to be named as the Speaker of the Odisha Assembly, Binjharpur MLA Pramila Mallick is likely to be appointed as government chief whip, sources said.
