Bhubaneswar: After remaining shut for nearly seven months, the Nandankanan Zoo is gearing up to open its gates for visitors from October 4 in a restricted manner with all COVID19 guidelines and social distancing norms in place.

Informing about the decision, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Hari Shankar Upadhyay said that the botanical garden inside the zoo will also open on the same date.

"Deliberations are on about the number of visitors to be allowed into the zoo at a given time. Masks will be made mandatory for all the visitors," Upadhyay stated.

"Thermal scanning of all the visitors will be done strictly. They will not be allowed to touch the enclosures. The detailed guidelines will be issued very soon," he added.

According to sources, tickets for visitors will be available both online and offline.
