Bhubaneswar: After remaining shut for nearly seven months, the Nandankanan Zoo on Sunday reopened its gates for visitors in a restricted manner with all COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing norms in place.

Thermal scanning and sanitisation of all visitors are being done strictly. The premises of the whole zoo were also sanitised properly. Sporting masks have been made mandatory. Visitors have been cautioned not to touch enclosures.

According to sources, tickets for visitors are available both online and offline.

The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Hari Shankar Upadhyay said that the botanical garden inside the zoo has also reopened.

The famous zoo in the state is home to about 1600 animals representing 166 species including 67 species of mammals, 81 species of birds and 18 species of reptiles.
