Kendrapara: Panic gripped the residents of Mangalpur village under Derabis panchayat in the district after 12 sheep were killed by an unidentified animal yesterday night.
As per reports, the unidentified animal has killed 12 sheep inside the cattle shed of one Bara Bhuyian of the village.
"A total of 12 sheep were killed while four others were injured critically in the attack. I have informed government officials about the incident and they have assured me help. However, I am yet to receive any financial assistance from the government," alleged Debasish Bhuyian, the affected cattle owner.
"After such frequent incidents of sheep death, we are planning to give up cattle farming and start some other business," said Sudhir Bhuyian, another local.
Sources said there are strange marks on the neck and legs of the sheep.
Meanwhile, no official from the local administration has reached the spot even after repeated requests.
