Bhubaneswar: With only a few days left for the Hockey World Cup-2018 to be held in the capital city of Odisha, life-size murals under the Street Art and Murals Project (STAMP) of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation across the city are spreading the fever of the mega event.

According to sources, more than 300 artists including students are working for the beautification of the city. The murals will have the traditional 'Jhotichita', 'Naga Medha' dance of Puri and tribal artworks. Apart from that, 3 dimensional pictures of famous Hockey players will also be drawn on the walls across the city.

BMC has said that this project will help in providing employment to many youths of the State.

"There are close to 300 artists working in Bhubaneswar and many of them are students. It has turned out to be a good income source especially for them," an artist said.

Another student artist said, "We are making use of our skills learned in college. There is a lot to learn from the seniors as well. We are also getting paid for it which is nice.”

While a budget of Rs 3 crore has been approved for the mural project, 10 companies have been assigned for the execution of the work. On the other hand, BMC Commissioner has informed that City Festival will also be launched during the world cup.

"STAMP is carried out every year for City Festival but this time it will be special as there is Hockey World Cup," BMC Commissioner, Krishan Kumar said.
