Bhubaneswar: Multiple robberies rocked the Nakhara Dihasahi area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar in the wee hours of Tuesday.

As per reports, unidentified robbers struck at two houses at Nakhara Dihasahi area, on the outskirts of the state capital and decamped with gold jewellery, cash and valuables.

Jajati Keshari Pradhan, the house owner said, "We have been robbed off at least 130 grams of gold. We were fast asleep last night, but when we woke up at around 4:30 am, I witnessed that the doors of our room are locked from outside and the grill at the backside of our house has been cut down."

"The police had come in the morning to probe the incident. I demand a speedy recovery of our items and appropriate punishment for the thieves," added Pradhan.

Locals alleged that the area despite being under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, still deprived of street lights at night. They further alleged that the frequency of police patrolling in the area has dropped significantly over the years.

The police have started a probe into the multiple robberies.
