Bhubaneswar: Elaborate security measures have been taken for smooth conduct of polling in 6 Lok Sabha constituencies and 42 Assembly seats in Odisha which will go to polls in the third phase tomorrow.
As many as 92,56,922 voters will decide the fate of 61 candidates in fray for 6 Lok Sabha and 356 candidates contesting for 42 Assembly seats in the third phase polls. The voting will be conducted in 10,464 booths from 7 AM tomorrow.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar today informed that as many as 3,186 booths have been marked ‘critical’ while 600 CAPF personnel will be deployed. As many as 68,422 polling officers will be engaged in the third phase polls and 395 zonal magistrates have also been deployed.
A five-tier security arrangement has been made to conduct the polls in a free and fair manner in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty informed that out of the total 1,156 booths in Bhubaneswar, 383 booths have been marked as ‘sensitive.’ Along with 30 platoons of police force, six platoons of central paramilitary force will be deployed in Bhubaneswar, he informed.
Similarly, 15 platoons of police force will be deployed during the polls in Cuttack tomorrow, informed Mohanty.

Security arrangements have been beefed up in the wake of recent incidents of political violence in the districts going to polls in the third phase. From brutal murder of BJP worker in Khurda to attack on PCC chief in Ghasipura and the recent bombings on the vehicles of BJP and BJD candidates in Bhubaneswar, there has been a spurt in poll-related violence.
It is pertinent to mention that polling for six Lok Sabha seats- Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Puri, Cuttack and 42 Assembly seats therein will be held tomorrow.
Security has also been tightened in Maoist affected districts of Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal.
