Bhubaneswar: After being released from the Jharpada jail on bail on Friday, Mayurbhanj MP Ramchandra Hansdah lambasted the Union government alleging misuse of central agencies to settle political scores.

He further alleged the CBI of working to please the ‘masters’ in power at the Centre.

“The CBI arrested me to please the ‘masters’ at the Centre. I don’t understand why I was arrested. During Modi government there is an undeclared emergency. An attempt is being made by the Central government to suppress political opponents,” stated Hansdah.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday had granted bail to Hansdah in connection with the Nabadiganta chit fund scam.

In February 2015, the CBI had filed a chargesheet against Hansdah framing charges under Indian Penal Code, and various provisions of Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act.

He was one of the founding members of Nabadiganta Capital Service. He had resigned from the company in 2012.

The agency had raided Hansdah's house at Baripada in July 2014 and allegedly seized Rs 28 lakh.

The MP, however, had said that the money recovered from his residence was his personal property and had nothing to do with the ponzi firm accused of duping investors.
