Bhubaneswar: Hours after the reintroduction of the strict enforcement of on-road traffic regulations, the Commissionerate of Police on Sunday issued guidelines fixing speed limits for vehicles plying under its jurisdiction.

In a tweet, the Twin City Police has informed that all vehicles including the heavy, light and two-wheelers will have to maintain a speed limit of 50 KMPH, except on NH from Palasuni to Balikuda, where the speed limit is 70 KMPH.

Drivers going above the fixed limits can be prosecuted, it added.

Earlier in the Twin City had launched massive vehicle checking drives at different parts of the city and issued challans against the traffic rule violators.

The traffic police have also made it clear that apart from collecting fines in the drunken driving cases it would forward the offenders to the court instantly.
