Bhubaneswar: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a motor rally 'Tracing The Mahatma's Footprints In Odisha' was kicked off today in Bhubaneswar. The rally will connect the places in Odisha which where visited by the Father of the Nation.

As per reports, 48 participants from Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Bhubaneswar will cover 1200 kilometres in 12 vehicles within a span of four days. The rally was flagged off by Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal.

After commencing its journey from Xavier Chhak in the capital city the rally headed towards Cuttack and later the participants will cover Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Berhampur before culminating at Puri on November 18. The rally is being jointly organised by the Kalinga Motor Sports Club and Union Road Transport ministry.

General Secretary of Kalinga Motor Sports Club, Ramesh Mohapatra, said, "The rally will remind people of Odisha that Mahatma Gandhi was connected to the State and how our people played an instrumental role in the freedom struggle."
