Bhubaneswar: Acknowledging the crucial roles played by women in a society, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said mothers are born leaders and they have the leadership qualities to run the nation as well as society.

Addressing a special programme oragnised at BJD headquarters here on the occasion of International Women’s Day today, Patnaik said, “Mothers, who can easily take care of their home and children, can take responsibility of the nation and society with ease.”

“Every mother has leadership qualities. We must create opportunities to develop their skills and use them for the development of the nation,” Patnaik added.

Meanwhile, Odisha BJP in-charge D Purandeswari lambasted ruling BJD government for using women as vote banks in the State.

Speaking at a programme oragnised at Baraipur in Mahanga, Purandeswari said, “BJD has been using women as vote bank. However, BJP has immense respect for the women. Rather than working towards the betterment of the citizens, the government is busy in pasting its own posters on houses constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.”

“Kulamani Baral and Bikash Jena were murdered for raising irregularities in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Moreover, two witnesses were eliminated to destroy the evidences. If BJD actually respects women, then why they made four women widow?,” she added.

The BJP leader also targeted the government on rising cases of missing children in the State. “Around 27,000 children are missing in Odisha, while the recovery rate is mere 14 per cent. CM Naveen Patnaik says all 4.5 crore Odias are his family. I want to ask CM Naveen are Kulamani Baral, Bikash Jena and Pari not his family?”  Purandeswari questioned.
