Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar today informed that the southwest monsoon which had weakened after arrival in the State on June 8 has became active again and is likely to cover the entire State within 36 hours.

The met office also informed that heavy rainfall may lash northern parts of the State in the next 12 hours due to a cyclonic circulation over southwest and northwest Bay of Bengal.

Meanwhile, rainfall in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, Balasore and Puri has brought much needed respite from the scorching heat in Coastal parts of the State. While Paradip recorded the highest rainfall of 60 mm, Puri has received 26 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours.

With revival of monsoon, the IMD is expecting rainfall in interior as well as western parts of the State soon.

The IMD has warned of strong and gusty surface wind up to 35 to 45 km per hour along and off Odisha coast and advised caution to fishermen while venturing into the sea.
