Puri: The directorate of Ayush of State Health and Family Welfare department in collaboration with the Puri beach management committee has initiated a first of its kind beach campaign 'Mo Beach Yoga' to promote environmental awareness and healthy lifestyle habits through yoga with strict compliance to Covid-19 guidelines.

The two-day-long event which kicked off today has seen the participation of over 200 Covid-recovered persons who are being oriented by 10 instructors from the Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in the pilgrim town. There are 10 well-organised and curated platforms along the 800mt stretch on the beach for the 'Mo Beach Yoga' initiative.

The programme is organised on a pilot basis with Yogic respiratory exercises by recovered people invited from all walks of life.

Puri Collector Balwant Singh has expressed his vision for a healthier Puri with a sustainable environment. Sharing the purpose behind 'Mo Beach Yoga' at the Blue Flag Golden Beach, Singh said, "In the context of the pandemic, as per guidelines of Ayush Ministry and Ayush Directorate of Health and Family Welfare department, the district administration along with the Beach Management Committee has started a unique initiative called Mo Beach Yoga. Through this, we want to help those who have recovered from Covid through Yogic respiratory exercises, asanas and pranayam."

"At the same time, the participants will gain more knowledge on environmental education. This initiative would certainly boost the environmental awareness campaign," he added.
