Missing mentally ill girl to be handed over to parents after 2 years

Koraput: A minor girl who was reportedly missing from Bihar owing to mental illness has been cured after undergoing treatment at Missionaries of Charity in Koraput and will finally return to her parents after two years.

The minor girl has been identified as Ruby, a resident of Karwa village in Bhojpur district of Bihar.

According to sources, Ruby was rescued from Raleguda village by district Childline and later sent to Missionaries of Charity by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for treatment.

The Koraput Childline have identified the address of Ruby’s family with the assistance of Bihar government.

“We have sent a letter to the Bhojpur District Magistrate. Her father’s name is Ramji Ram, she will be handed over to her family,” said Gayatri Devi, CWC chairperson.

“She was rescued in a very bad condition; she was not able to give her identity. After being treated at Missionaries of Charity she recovered and gave her details to us," said Ramesh Rath, a CWC member.

Ruby was suffering from mental illness when she came to Koraput alone from Bihar two years back, sources said.

“I was roaming alone in the road; they rescued me and have taken care of me” said Ruby.
