Paradip: In a mid-night heist, unidentified armed miscreants looted cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh by drugging family members at gun point at Jhimala village under Lock police station in Jagatsinghpur district late Wednesday night.

Around 12 miscreants reportedly came in a bolero SUV and two bikes late on Wednesday night and barged into the house while all the family members were asleep.

“They came at around 2 to 3.30 am last night and terrorized us by tying our legs and hands. Then they fed us with some intoxicating medicines after which we all fell unconscious. Later, they looted the cash and valuables from the room,” Satya Tarai, a member of the family said.

“Some of them were speaking in Hindi while some others were Odias,” he added.

Some family members fell ill under the influence of the drug. They have been admitted to Atharabanki health centre for treatment in the morning.

A case has been registered in this connection and investigation is underway, police said.
