Cuttack: Protesting police inaction against Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty and his brother Anuprash Mohanty in connection with a misbehaviour case, lady journalist Sasmita Acharya sat on dharna in front of Purighat Police station here today.

After a meeting with the Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of the police station, the lady journalist said the police have failed to take any action even after one month of her lodging the complaint. Moreover, she alleged that the FIR filed by her has been changed under the pressure from the Kendrapara MP.

“Even though I had filed a complaint more than one month ago, the police station IIC is yet to hand over the case to an officer for investigation. The accused are still roaming freely due to which I am suffering from mental pressure. This apart, the supporters of MP's brother are threatening me for life," said Acharya.

She further added that even though she had mentioned that the MP's brother Anuprash was passing lewd remarks at her, but under pressure from the parliamentarian, the IIC has made some changes in the FIR copy.

"In the changed complaint, the police have mentioned that MP Anubhav Mohanty, his wife Barsha Priyadarshini, brother Anupras Mohanty and playback singer Ira Mohanty used to pass objectionable comments at me while I was going to The Samaj office for internship," said the lady journalist.

“I tried to meet the CM to apprise him about the issue at the Naveen Niwas, but failed to inform him. I will sit on dharna in front of the police station until I get justice,” she said.

On June 15, after Acharya filed a complaint at Purighat police station in Cuttack, a case was registered against Anubhav and his brother Anuprash under IPC sections- 294, 354 (A), 323, 34.

In her complaint, Acharya had said when she had gone to Anubhav Mohanty’s residence on June 12 to complain about his elder brother Anuprash Mohanty who has been allegedly harassing her, the MP misbehaved with her and spat on her in presence of his wife Barsha Priyadarshini.
