Minor girl, relative assaulted in Odisha, video goes viral

Ganjam: A video of a minor girl and her relative being purportedly thrashed by a youth in full public view in Berhampur of Ganjam district, has gone viral.

The incident is said to have taken place between Gopalpur Square and Ambapua area around 9 pm yesterday.

According to sources, the minor girl was travelling with her relative in a car last night when the accused youth chased them on a motorcycle and intercepted them. Later, he dragged the girl out of the car and assaulted her.

The accused also snatched away the keys of the car. When the man accompanying the girl asked for the keys, he was thrashed by the accused. In the viral video, the accused can be seen repeatedly hitting the man. However, the reason behind the assault was unclear.

Sources said although some people were present on the spot, they did not protest against the assault. No complaint has been filed in this regard so far.
