Nabarangpur: Two minor boys were thrashed by villagers for allegedly stealing a bike from Badkumari village in Umerkote of Nabarangpur.

According to sources, both the accused were tied to a pole and beaten up by the villagers yesterday and were later arrested by the police. According to police sources, one the accused minor identified as Kiran Haldar is a habitual offender.

"Around 3 PM, I was informed that two persons were detained for allegedly stealing a bike in Badkumari village. I reached the spot with my team and found that two boys were tied to a pole. After investigation we came to know that one of them has a past record of stealing bikes with two cases pending against him," Umerkote Police Station official, Birendra Kumar Senapati said.

Senapati informed that they recovered one bike from them and have called the owner of the vehicle for verification.

"If the owner doesn't want to file a complaint we will file on our own," added Senapati.

An investigation is currently underway to find out the involvement of the accused in any other crime.
