Mid-day meal rice stolen in Cuttack during holidays

Cuttack: Allegations of theft of mid-day meals rice during school holidays have surfaced in Bhatimunda village under Tangi area of Cuttack district.

The matter came to light after a video of the rice being stolen went viral on social media. The incident has sparked outrage among the locals in the area.

"During government holidays, committee chairman Khitij Sahu and his associates have sold off the rice illegally for which we have filed a police complaint," a local resident Nabakishore Das said.

Another local resident Nirmala Sethi said, "I stay nearby the school and I saw the school peon bringing rice from the school and giving it to another person."

Additional block education officer, Brajmohan Das said "A proper investigation will be done in the case as a complaint has been filed. The matter will be informed to the higher authorities."
