Angul: A probe has been ordered by the Collector of Angul over an incident of two men doing sit-ups for allegedly not properly wearing masks near college square under Kishorenagar Police Limits in Angul district on Saturday.

In a video clip of the incident that went viral, two men are seen doing sit-ups in front of the Tehsildar and police who were reportedly conducting a check on violators of COVID-19 norms.

While, the conversation between the men and Tehsildar is not obvious in the video that was captured in a CCTV camera installed nearby, the men, however, were seen doing sit-ups in front of the Tehsildar and the police.

Asked for an explanation, the Tehsildar said that the duo was intercepted on the road for not wearing masks in a proper manner. But they were never asked for doing sit-ups, rather they confessed to their offence and did the act voluntarily.

Even the Police had reportedly barred them from doing sit-ups, but they did it anyway, the Tehsildar claimed.

Nonetheless, after the news of the incident was aired on television, the district Collector has ordered Athamallik Sub-Collector to launch a probe in this connection.
