Bhubaneswar: While the admission process at various private and government medical colleges across the State kicked off today, the Commissionerate Police arrested a middleman on charges of defrauding people of Rs 30 lakh on pretext of facilitating admission into MBBS course.

The arrested person, identified as Sunil Samantray was held for reportedly cheating aspirants of lakhs of rupees with false promises of helping them get admission at Hi-Tech Medical College.

Sources said the cops arrested Samantray on basis of a complaint lodged by a woman at the Infocity police station.

Meanwhile, OJEE officials stated that the admission process, which began today, will continue till July 10 and classes will start from August 1.
