Bhubaneswar: A day before the commencement of the Matriculation examinations, block grant school and college teachers under the banner of School College Teachers and Employees United Forum today threatened to launch a hunger strike at Mahtma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar from tomorrow.

Demanding pension benefits, implementation of service rules, salary as per the Seventh Pay Commission and allocation of grants to eligible schools and colleges, the united forum has threatened to intensify its agitation from tomorrow.

“Three months have passed, but the State government has not fulfilled our demands. If the State government does not fulfil the demands by today evening, we will sit on hunger strike from tomorrow,” said Golak Nayak, convener of the forum.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the block grant teachers staged a dharna at lower PMG in Bhubaneswar. The State government had asked for three months’ time to look into the demands of the teachers.
