Bhubaneswar: Class 10 students will appear the matriculation or annual high school certification (HSC) examination exams in Odisha this year at their own schools, sources at Board of Secondary Education (BSE) said on Friday.

However official announcement by the State Government or the School and Mass Education Department is yet to come.

The annual class 10 board examination is scheduled to be held from May 3 to 15 this year.

Sources said teachers from other schools will be roped in to serve as invigilators during the test to prevent malpractice and bring fairness in the examination.

Besides, students will appear the examination for two hours this year instead of two and half hours. The test will be held from 8 AM to 10 AM, added sources.

BSE has said that in order to prevent examinees and their parents from the struggle of travelling long distance and staying outside during the times pandemic, the State government has decided to take the decision.

This year, around 6.5 lakh students are likely to appear the annual matric examination.

Students will answer questions for 80 marks in each paper instead of 100 marks in the state board examinations this year. Fifty of that 80 marks will comprise objective questions in OMR (optical mark recognition) format and the remaining 30 marks will be subjective. The rest 20 marks will be evaluated on the basis of the percentage secured by an examinee from the given 80 marks in a particular paper.
