Bhubaneswar: In a major decision, the Odisha government on Thursday announced to provide ‘Pariksha Darpan’an exam guide free of cost to the students who will appear the upcoming matriculation or the annual high school certification (HSC) examination.

School and Mass Education Minister, Samir Ranjan Dash said that ‘Pariksha Darpan’ containing probable questions with answers will be provided free of cost to the students.

Around 6.50 lakh students are likely to be benefited from such move of the state government as it will help them to prepare well for the upcoming crucial board examination.

"The Chief Minister had asked us to initiate measures to reduce the stress of students in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, we had earlier reduced the syllabus by 30 per cent. Now we have decided to provide a test-paper 'Pariksha Darpan' containing probable questions and answers will be distributed among students," said Dash.

Dash said that the 700-page  test-paper booklet and we want to prepare for the exams by reading their text books. Subsequently, the Pariksha Darpan will be provided to the students at appropriate time.

It is pertinent to mention here that the annual matriculation examination, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), will be held on May 3, 2021.

Keeping in view the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the livelihood of the people across Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on January 13 announced that the state government will not charge any fee from students appearing in the Matric examination this year.

The state government will bear Rs 27 crore on this account of this decision and more than 6 lakh students will be benefited", the chief minister's office  had said in a statement. Every candidate appearing in the annual high school certificate examination was supposed to pay Rs 420 for filling up the forms.
