Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday released the ‘Pariksha Darpan’, a 700-page exam guide to be provided free of cost to students who will appear the upcoming annual high school certification (HSC) examination.

While unveiling the guide, School and Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Dash said that government aims to reach every student with the guide by February 15. The reference book containing probable questions and answers for the exam will reach the district Education Offices (DEOs) by February 12 so that all aspiring students of class 10 can avail them for preparation, he added.

As many as 6,02,0508 students who are set to appear the board exams this year will get the book free of cost, the minister said.

The State government has already said that the decision to introduce the guide was taken by the School Mass & Education department following directive of Chief Minister to reduce stress of students.

The test-paper has been compiled after necessary rationalisation of the syllabus of the Matric students.

The State Government had earlier announced to waive the exam fee of the students.

Keeping in view the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the livelihood of the people, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on January 13 had announced that the state government will not charge any fee from students appearing the test this year.

Every candidate appearing the annual high school certificate examination was supposed to pay Rs 420 for filling up the forms.

It is pertinent to mention that the annual matriculation examination, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), will be held from May 3, 2021.
