Cuttack: Lok Sabha member Anubhav Mohanty on Friday appeared before the Cuttack SDJM court and submitted his response through his counsel on the domestic violence charges levelled against him by his wife and Ollywood actress Varsha Priyadarshini.

Dodging the questions about spat with his wife Varsha, Mohanty said. "I have complete faith on the judiciary. I am sure that truth will prevail and the person at fault will be prosecuted."

As per reports, Varsha Priyadarshini had moved Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) over her ongoing marital discord on December 15.

Earlier to that, she had lodged a police complaint on December 9, alleging offensive statements made against her on social media platform. She had also produced the screenshots containing vulgar remarks on the social media before the Purighat Police Station in Cuttack.

Not only that, she had even lodged a complaint against her in-laws with Puri Ghat Police in Cuttack alleging that a conspiracy has been hatched to throw her out of the MP’s house. She also alleged that she had recently received an anonymous letter which threatened her to vacate the house immediately.

A few days ago, the matrimonial dispute between the couple witnessed a new twist after Delhi-based journalist Jagrati Shukla, who described herself as one of the good friends of the Mohanty, cautioned the ‘fans of Varsha’ for trolling her on social media platform by using ‘sick, demeaning, derogatory and unacceptable abuses’ against her.

She had even requested Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and National Commission for Women (NCW) to take exemplary action against those who are indulging in such activities.
