Bhubaneswar: Maoists have allegedly killed a police sub-inspector after abducting him from Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Friday.

The deceased sub-inspector has been identified as Murali Tati. The Red Ultras have put up a poster in the area announcing about the murder of the police personnel.

Murali has caused irreparable loss to the Red Rebels by joining the District Reserve Guard (formed for anti-Maoists operations). He was sentenced to death following a trial in Praja Court, the poster read.

According to reports, Maoists had abducted Tati on April 21. He was posted in Jagdalpur and had gone home to Palnar village in Bijapur when he was kidnapped.

Tati was engaged in some of the most important anti-naxal operations in Bijapur. He was on the hit-list of Maoists for a long time.

In August 2020, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Chhattisgarh Police was also killed by Maoists in Bijapur district of Bastar division.

ASI Nagaiya Korsa was abducted and killed with sharp-edged weapons by the local militia cadres of CPI (Maoist). His body was later found along Kutru-Naimed roadside in Bijapur district.

On the other hand, CRPF commando Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, who was held captive by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh for over 100 hours after the April 3 gun battle, was released almost after a week.
