Bolangir: A man was allegedly shot by four youths for protesting damage to his sugarcane crop at Samara village under Tusura Police limits in Bolangir district today. The man was admitted to Tusura CHC and has been shifted to Burla hospital.

According to sources, the sugarcane farmer identified as Mangalu Seth was guarding his farm when the four youths entered his field and tried to uproot sugarcane. After being denied, the youths got agitated and allegedly shot him in his right leg. The four youths reportedly fled from the spot after the incident.

"I asked them not to uproot sugarcane but they got agitated and shot me in the leg," injured Mangalu said.

Narayan Seth, son of the injured victim said "My father just asked them to not uproot sugarcane. They, however, shouted at him and later shot him in the leg." Meanwhile, the Tusura Police has launched a manhunt to nab the accused youths.
