Man Shot Dead By Miscreants In Odisha’s Puri, Locals Block NH

Puri: Tension prevailed at Kanjia bazar area after a person was shot dead by miscreants on Sunday night. The deceased, Purendra Behera was working in a dhaba and was killed following a dispute over quality of food.

As per reports, a few youths arrived at the dhaba and ordered some food last night. Later, the youths reportedly left the dhaba after alleging that the food served was not good.

Trouble erupted after Purendra and some other associates confronted the youths in a nearby dhaba, Irate over this, the miscreants allegedly fired at Purendra and fled the spot.

Following the incident, Satyabadi police reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased along with the locals today blocked the Bhubaneswar-Puri NH 316 demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in the firing incident.

Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road due to the road blockade agitation. No arrests were made by police till last filing of this report.
