Gajapati: A man was arrested on charges of fraudulently withdrawing compensation amount of a cyclone Titli-affected person at Manikpur village in Mohana block of Gajapati district. The accused has been identified as K. Pramod Kumar Dora, a Co-ordinator at Chandiput Customer Service Centre.

According to reports, Dora allegedly took away the ATM card and bank passbook of the beneficiary identified as Lochan Dalai and later withdrew the compensation amount of Rs 1.19 lakh from the latter's account.

The matter came to light when daughter of the complainant found that money was withdrawn from her father's account. She then reported the incident to Tehsildar and BDO and lodged a complaint at Mohana police station.

“The compensation amount was provided by the State government for the construction of house which was damaged in Cyclone Titli. But Dora fraudulently transferred the money to his own account,” Dalai said.
