Mayurbhanj: It is now four days that Jagatnanda Mohapatra, a resident of ward no.11 in Udala town in district is missing. Though the family members filed a missing complaint, police are yet to trace his whereabouts.

Moreover, the family alleged that Jagatnanda has been kidnapped by his step-mother following some dispute over insurance money of his father.

On March 5, Jagatnanda went missing reportedly after returning to Udala from Purunagaon under Nilgiri area of Balasore district.

“Jagatnanda had gone to his native village to sort some family dispute with his step-mother over the insurance money of his deceased father. His step-mother had also threatened to eliminate him. We are therefore suspecting her involvement behind his,” alleged Mohapatra’s brother-in-law, Manoj Kumar Das.

Family members claimed that on reaching Udala Bus Stand, Jagatananda called up his wife and told her that he will return home after finishing some work.

When Jagatnanda did not reach home till late evening, his family members lodged a police complaint at Udala Police station after failing to contact him over phone.

“He was returning from Purunagaon and deboarded the bus at Udala stand and called me asking for his savings account number at around 6.15 PM. Later, when we tried to contact him, we failed as his mobile phone number was switched off,” Jagatnanda’s wife, Sarita Mohapatra.

Meanwhile, Udala Police officials refused to comment on the matter but stated that investigation in this connection is underway.
