Berhampur: A young man who climbed on an electric tower at the Berhampur railway station early this morning creating chaos among the onlookers was successfully rescued by the railway authorities.

As per reports, a few passengers first spotted the man atop the high-tension tower and alerted the authorities who immediately rushed to the spot and pursued him to get down. The electric supply to the transmission wires was disconnected to ensure the man’s safety affecting rail traffic for almost an hour.

“He kept saying that his friend is lost and he would not come down unless he is found. He kept changing statements and it appeared as if he was mentally unstable,” informed a passenger who was a witness to the entire episode.

However, the authorities and fire brigade staff engaged in a dialogue with the man and managed to convince him to get down.
