Malkangiri: Amid reports of surge in Covid-19 cases in Odisha, the district administration of Malkangiri on Tuesday ordered seven-day mandatory home isolation for people coming to the district.

“All persons, who are coming to this district from other states, have to undergo a compulsory home isolation for 7 days,” said district collector, Yeddula Vijay.

Anganwadi workers, panchayat executive officers, (PEOs), sarpanchs have been directed to collect the travel history of returnees and maintain a database.

All the Head of the Departments of offices of State and central government in the district have to furnish their travel history information in advance to the nodal officer before leaving headquarters.

The district administration has prohibited large gatherings, congregations. marriage, funeral, last rites related gatherings, social, religious, political, sports, entertainment, cultural function with a ceiling of 200 persons, the district collector said.

The Collector has also asked the chief district medical and public health officer to set up dedicated fever clinic at DHH, Malkangiri, Kalimela and Mathili for patients with influenza like infection, severe acute respiratory infection and Covid-19 like symptoms. Besides, the CDM was asked to enhance RT-PCR and antigen test rate.

Any person violating these measures will be liable to be proceeded against in accordance with the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and Regulations issued there under besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC and other legal provisions as applicable.

Yesterday, the district administration clamped night curfew as a preventive measure to check the spread of coronavirus. The night curfew will remain in force in Malkangiri from 9 PM to 6 AM between March 23 and 31, 2021.
