Berhampur: In a major loot in the Silk city, miscreants allegedly decamped with 2.8 kg of gold ornaments from a jewellery shop located at Badabazaar main road area by breaking open the shop's iron chest.

Meanwhile, police have recovered CCTV footage from the jewellery shop- Vinod Jewellers- and begun an investigation to nab the miscreants.

"We found that the miscreants failed to break open the iron chest, still they managed to decamp with some ornaments. As per the their (shop owners) allegations, around 2.8 kg has been stolen from the shop," said Badabazaar Inspector-in-Charge, Prashant Bhupati.
