Keonjhar: Fire broke out in the luggage van of Keonjhar-Bhubaneswar Fast Passenger train near Chilikidara station here this morning. Efforts are on to douse the flames.

No casualties, injuries or damage to belongings of any passenger or other railway personnel aboard the train has been reported yet, informed officials of the East Coast Railway.

The luggage bogie was booked by the CRPF and the exact reason behind the flames is yet to be ascertained. On getting information, fire tenders from Keonjhar, Ghatagaon and Harichandanpur rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

Meanwhile, the damaged bogie has been detached from the passenger train by the railway officials.“The smoke was seen billowing out from the luggage bogie of the train near Chilikidara station at around 8 am,” an eyewitness said.

Speaking to OTV, a senior officer of the East Coast Railway  Nirakar Dash informed, "The luggage bogie in which the fire mishap took place was booked by the CRPF. However, what triggered the fire is yet to be established. The bogie has been detached adding that the  train will leave the Chilikidara railway station soon.
