Bhubaneswar: The well-marked low pressure area over north Andaman Sea has concentrated into a depression and lay centred over east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and North Andaman Sea, informed Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to IMD, the depression is about 950 km south-southeast off Paradip and it is very likely to intensify into a deep depression in next 12 hours, and into a cyclonic storm in the subsequent 12 hours.

It is very likely to move west-northwestward initially and then north-northwestward towards Odisha – west Bengal coasts, said regional meteorological centre, Bhubaneswar.

Under its influence, one or two places in Odisha may witness moderate rain on November 8 while heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some coastal districts of Odisha on November 9 and 10, predicted the regional meteorological centre.

The weather department further forecast that the sea condition will be rough during that period. However, it did not give any details about its impact on Odisha if the depression turns into cyclone.
