Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra has lambasted the BJD-led Odisha government alleging that it was never concerned to stop the construction of Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh and the barrages on the upper stream of Mahanadi river in Chhattisgarh, which is why the government has failed to stop the projects.

He alleged that although two committees have been formed to resolve the issues, meetings are yet to be conducted to discuss the matter.

“The construction of Polavaram and barrages in the upstream of Mahandi river basin will continue and we will just keep on screaming in Odisha. The state government will not take any concrete step and we will just keep on watching the ongoing construction quietly till Mahanadi dries up,” lamented Mishra.

Mishra further lambasted the BJD-led government by saying that it has completely failed to safeguard the interests of the people in the State.

It may be mentioned that during hearing of Readiness for Empowerment through Legitimate Action (RELA)’s petition, the apex court on Thursday questioned and also took the issue of lack of public hearings seriously and directed Centre to submit an affidavit on the terms and conditions by Saturday.
