Jajpur: Locals in Haridaspur of Jajpur district under the banner of Ramco Pratirodha Sangram Samiti have threatened a stir against Ramco company alleging that the cement grinding unit has failed to fulfil the assurances that included employment to locals among others.

In a press conference on Sunday, the public representatives of Haridaspur and Thanuala Panchayats complained about the company’s negligence towards the locals. They threatened to stage dharna in front of the company’s unit if their demands are not met at the earliest.

As per their allegations, the company has failed in its promise to provide jobs and other welfare benefits like healthcare, drinking water supply and electricity connection.

“If the company doesn’t fulfil the promises we will launch a peaceful dharna in front of the company gate and submit a petition to the collector,” stated Haridaspur sarapanch, Madhusmita Bhadra.

Nominee of Thanuala Panchayat, Prasanna Kumar Rout said that the negligence towards the local people will not be tolerated anymore.

“The locals gave away their land in hope that their children will get jobs once the company is established. If the company neglects us, we will protest,” said Rout.

Meanwhile the deputy general manager of the company, Sarbeswar Mohapatra stated that the company has extended its helping hand in every possible way for the welfare of locals.

“If there are any demands, we will look into it and try to fulfil them,” Mohapatra assured.
