Nabarangpur: Residents of Sandaibeta village in Nabarangpur district staged demonstration today alleging drinking water crisis in the area.

According to sources, locals staged road blockade on NH-26 holding empty utensils. Though the village is situated near Nabarangpur town, the residents still face acute water scarcity, the protestors alleged.

“Today we have staged a road blockade and will continue our protest till our problem is not resolved” alleged Mangala Jani Bagh, a resident.

The agitating villagers alleged that the local administration has not paid any heed to their repeated complaints.

A total of 400 families residing in the village are dependent on limited number of tube wells while most of them are lying defunct.

“Our life has become miserable due to water scarcity. We are facing severe health-related ailments due to unavailability of safe drinking water” alleged Priyadarshini, another local.
